Prominent Speakers Distance Themselves From Life Surge Following Financial Allegations

Updated 4 days ago

Several high-profile figures, including former NFL player Tim Tebow, Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, and Pastor Craig Groeschel, have distanced themselves from Life Surge, a touring seminar series focused on faith-based wealth building. The organization, founded by entrepreneur Joe Johnson, claims to teach Christians how to multiply financial resources for kingdom impact and reported over 117,000 attendees at its 2025 events. Following reports of these departures, images of these speakers and others have been removed from the company's website.

The distancing follows investigative reports alleging that Life Surge uses aggressive sales tactics to pressure attendees into purchasing expensive real estate and stock investment courses. Some participants have claimed that these methods led to significant personal debt, with one attendee reporting a $20,000 expenditure and a Better Business Bureau complaint alleging losses exceeding $42,000. While Life Surge has disputed these accusations, Tebow stated he is pausing his relationship with the organization to investigate the claims, and Mazzulla noted he requested his removal from the platform after learning of the allegations.
