Biblical Perspectives on Leadership and Service in the Church
In a recent teaching, the author explores the Apostle Paul’s use of architectural and organic metaphors to define the structure of the church. Drawing on Ephesians 2 and 1 Peter 2, the text describes the church as a dynamic temple indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Complementing this, the author highlights the imagery of the body found in 1 Corinthians 12 to illustrate the interdependent nature of the Christian community.
Focusing on Ephesians 4:11–16, the author examines the roles of apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor-teachers. The teaching explains that these leaders are tasked with equipping the saints for ministry, thereby fostering unity and spiritual maturity. While noting that apostles and prophets served as the foundational witnesses to Christ, the author emphasizes that contemporary evangelists and teachers continue this work by applying biblical truth. Ultimately, the author teaches that when each member of the body functions properly, the entire community grows in love and maturity toward the fullness of Christ.
