A jury in Miami County, Ohio, has found Caleb Flynn, a former worship leader and American Idol contestant, guilty of the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn. The verdict, delivered on September 29, 2026, followed a trial in which prosecutors argued that Flynn staged a home invasion to conceal his crime. Flynn, 40, had maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, with his defense team arguing that an intruder was responsible for the February killing and noting the absence of a recovered murder weapon.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence of an extramarital affair between Flynn and a former church intern, Alleigha Botner. Botner testified that Flynn had expressed a desire to end his marriage while retaining his job, his children, and his standing within the church. Text messages read in court revealed Flynn had discussed methods of killing his wife. Prosecutors further alleged that Flynn sought to avoid the social and professional consequences of a divorce.

Following the verdict, the family of Ashley Flynn released a statement honoring her as a devoted mother who “loved Jesus with her whole heart.” They expressed gratitude for the justice served while emphasizing their desire to remember Ashley for her faith and character rather than the circumstances of her death.
