John Lennox Encourages Christians to Confidently Share Their Faith

In a recent interview with the apologetics organization Solas, Professor John Lennox urged believers to overcome the fear of sharing their faith. Drawing on the New Testament, Lennox emphasized that evangelism is a calling for all Christians, not just those with formal theological training. He cited biblical scholar F.F. Bruce to remind listeners that the early church did not recognize the concept of a silent Christian.

Lennox expressed concern that many believers neglect deep study of the Scriptures, leaving their biblical knowledge at a basic level. He argued that this lack of preparation often leads to embarrassment when faced with difficult questions in a culture that increasingly privatizes religion. He clarified that the biblical concept of 'apologia' is not an intellectual exercise reserved for academics, but a practical defense of the truth. By focusing on personal experience and addressing common objections, Lennox encouraged Christians to engage with others' backgrounds and share their faith with confidence.
