Tammy Sue Bakker Issues Apology Following Death of Father Jim Bakker

Tammy Sue Bakker, daughter of the late televangelist Jim Bakker, has issued a public apology for the harm she says was caused by her family’s ministry over the past six decades. Following her father’s death last week, she expressed a desire to promote unconditional love and transparency, noting that she had been estranged from his ministry since 2022 because she disagreed with the messages being delivered.

In a statement posted to social media, Bakker acknowledged that while her parents' program, "The PTL Club," positively impacted many lives, it also left others feeling rejected and hurt. She specifically highlighted the suffering of individuals within the LGBT community who faced exclusion and depression due to church teachings. As part of her reflection, she encouraged support for LGBT organizations and expressed regret for those who felt exploited by the ministry's financial appeals. Bakker stated that she was not informed of her father's illness until shortly before his passing and is now seeking to reconcile her family's legacy with her own personal values.
