Vice President JD Vance leads prayer during medical emergency at Nebraska rally
U.S. Vice President JD Vance paused a campaign rally in North Platte, Nebraska, on Thursday to address a medical emergency after an attendee collapsed in the crowd. The event, held at the D&N Event Center, featured Vance alongside Senator Pete Ricketts, Governor Jim Pillen, and Representative Adrian Smith.
Upon noticing the situation, Vance halted his speech and requested that his medical staff and local first responders assist the woman. While emergency personnel attended to her, Vance invited the audience to join him in reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Following the prayer, he stepped away from the podium to check on the woman personally. He later informed the crowd that she was recovering and noted that she had shared with him that it was her first political rally.
The rally resumed briefly before concluding. Vance later expressed his well-wishes for the woman on social media. Medical incidents are frequently reported at large campaign events, where attendees often stand for extended periods.
