Iranian-Born Christian Granted Israeli Residency Following Diplomatic Intervention

Ramin Parsa, an Iranian-born Christian living in Israel, has been granted a one-year temporary residency permit after a prolonged legal battle. Parsa, who is married to an Israeli citizen, faced potential deportation because his birthplace is legally classified by Israel as an enemy state. Despite a judicial order for the Interior Ministry to reconsider his initial citizenship application, the ministry had previously rejected his request twice.

The resolution followed an intervention by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advocating for the family. The correspondence highlighted Parsa’s public opposition to the Iranian regime and his support for Israel. Parsa’s legal team submitted the ambassador's letter as part of the ongoing proceedings, which ultimately led to the granting of the one-year permit.

Parsa expressed gratitude for the support he received and stated his intention to continue advocating for Israel. The residency permit allows him to remain in the country legally for the next year and provides a pathway to pursue permanent status.
