Global Protests Planned Around Third Anniversary of October 7 Attacks

Authorities worldwide are preparing for over 260 pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel demonstrations scheduled to take place between October 7 and October 14. Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism identified events across 37 countries, with the United States, Spain, and Australia hosting the highest number of planned gatherings. Israeli officials have designated 21 of these events as high-risk, particularly those situated near diplomatic facilities in cities such as Seoul, Bogotá, and Mexico City.

In London, the Metropolitan Police have requested that organizers of a student protest reconsider their timing out of respect for Jewish communities observing the anniversary as a day of mourning. While the demonstration does not currently meet the legal criteria for a ban, police are implementing extensive security measures. Meanwhile, Israel’s National Security Council has issued warnings to Jewish communities abroad regarding potential threats from groups including Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. These security concerns follow a documented increase in antisemitic incidents globally since the initial October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks.
