Great American Media Launches Initiative to Support Small-Town Churches

Great American Media has announced a new campaign titled "Great American Christmas: Small-Town Churches," which seeks to recognize and support congregations that provide significant service to their local communities. The initiative invites the public to submit nominations detailing how specific churches impact their neighborhoods and how additional resources could enhance their holiday outreach programs. Selected churches may receive tailored support for various needs, including food ministries, children’s programs, worship resources, or transportation.

According to Kaitlyn Haubrich, chief brand officer at Great American Media, the project aims to highlight the role churches play in fostering faith and community connection during the holiday season. The campaign aligns with the network's broader focus on family-oriented holiday programming. Nominations for the initiative are open until October 15, with the selected congregations scheduled to be announced on October 27.

This effort coincides with recent data from the Hartford Institute for Religion Research, which noted that the median weekly attendance for U.S. Christian congregations rose to 70 people in 2025. This figure represents the first increase in attendance for smaller congregations in four decades.
