Grand Canyon University Announces Plans to Open New Law School

Grand Canyon University, a large Christian institution based in Phoenix, Arizona, has announced plans to establish a new College of Law. University President Brian Mueller stated that the school aims to integrate a Christian worldview into its curriculum, emphasizing the importance of the Old and New Testaments in understanding the legal systems and foundations of Western civilization. The university also plans to launch a College of Construction and Industrial Technologies.

The law school is tentatively scheduled to welcome its inaugural class in either the fall of 2027 or the spring of 2028. The project is currently awaiting necessary approvals from the Arizona Supreme Court, the Higher Learning Commission, and the Arizona Board for Private Postsecondary Education. Mueller noted that the Arizona Supreme Court has expressed support for the initiative, citing a regional shortage of attorneys. Once the school is operational, the American Bar Association will conduct a review following the graduation of the first cohort of students.
