International Christian Concern Calls for Global Action Against Terrorist Financing

International Christian Concern (ICC) has released a new report, The Khorasan Terrorism Economy, detailing the financial networks that sustain the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). The organization argues that military intervention alone is insufficient to combat extremism and urges governments to prioritize the disruption of illicit financial flows, including cryptocurrency use, kidnapping for ransom, and commercial taxation schemes.

The report highlights that these financial architectures are not limited to one region, noting similar patterns among extremist groups in East and Central Africa, such as al-Shabab, and in Nigeria, where groups like ISWAP and Boko Haram operate. ICC asserts that these organizations share resources and exploit international enforcement gaps to target Christian communities.

To address these threats, ICC is calling on the international community to implement more rigorous sanctions, freeze assets, and revoke diplomatic protections for those supporting terrorist entities. The organization emphasizes that treating terrorism financing with the same urgency as other global security threats is essential to dismantling the logistical systems that enable extremist violence.
