Pastor Marco Garcia Calls for Discipleship Focus at NHCLC Summit
During the 25th Anniversary Summit of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference held at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., Pastor Marco Garcia urged church leaders to shift their focus from traditional church services toward a culture of intentional discipleship. Garcia, who leads The Way World Outreach, argued that high-quality preaching and music are insufficient for spiritual growth and that churches must function as schools to effectively pass the faith to the next generation.
Drawing on the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16–20, Garcia emphasized that the primary assignment for believers is to make disciples rather than simply maintaining church membership. He expressed concern that many modern Christians do not identify as active disciples of Jesus Christ, which he believes has hindered the health and strength of the church in America. Garcia called for a "discipleship revolution," asserting that the nation's spiritual renewal depends on a renewed commitment to this foundational mission.
