Survey Finds Generation Z Most Likely to Identify as Religious
A recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll indicates that Generation Z adults are more likely to identify as religious than older generations. According to the data, 33% of Gen Z respondents describe themselves as religious, compared to 22% of Generation X, 19% of millennials, and 18% of baby boomers. The study also found that Gen Z is the least likely group to identify as neither religious nor spiritual.
Researchers observed that Gen Z often combines traditional religious practices with other spiritual activities. While 49% of Gen Z adults reported regular attendance at religious services and 54% reported reading scripture or religious texts over the past year, many also engage in practices such as manifestation or tarot. Libby Rodney, chief strategy officer at The Harris Poll, noted that this generation tends to "stack" various spiritual engagements rather than choosing a single path. While Gen Z leads in scripture reading and service attendance, baby boomers remain the most likely generation to engage in regular personal prayer.
