Wave of Kidnappings and Killings Reported in Kaduna State, Nigeria

Residents in Chikun County, Kaduna state, report a series of violent attacks and abductions targeting Christian communities throughout early October. On October 6, assailants reportedly broke into homes in the Rahusa Estate of Millennium City, kidnapping five individuals, including a pregnant woman and a mother with her six-month-old infant. Local witnesses stated that the attackers demanded a ransom of 350 million naira for the release of one family of three.

Additional incidents occurred on October 1 in the areas of Ungwan Waziri and Babban Saura. Residents report that gunmen killed at least two men and abducted several others, including children. Witnesses identified the attackers as Fulani gunmen, noting that the assailants communicated in the Fulfulde language during the raids. Local Christians expressed growing concern regarding the frequency of these incursions, stating that the persistent threat of violence has hindered their ability to attend church services safely.
