American Missionary Kevin Rideout Released After Nine Months in Niger Captivity

Kevin Rideout, a 50-year-old American missionary and pilot with Serving in Mission International (SIM), has been reunited with his wife, Krista, following more than nine months of captivity in Niger. Rideout was abducted by three armed men outside his home in Niamey on October 21, 2025, after serving in the country for 19 years. His release was announced by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, who noted that Rideout is the 110th American captive liberated during his current term.

In a joint statement, the couple expressed deep gratitude to the U.S. government, SIM, and the global Christian community for their support and prayers. Rideout credited his Christian faith with sustaining him throughout the ordeal, specifically citing the promise found in Deuteronomy 31:6. Reflecting on his return, Rideout shared that he maintained his spirits while in captivity by singing patriotic songs. President Trump has indicated plans to host the couple at the White House, while administration officials reported that Rideout expressed significant appreciation for the efforts made to secure his freedom.
