Franklin Graham Meets Vietnamese Official to Discuss Religious Freedom
Evangelist Franklin Graham recently hosted Nguyen Dinh Khang, Vietnam’s minister of ethnic and religious affairs, at the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association headquarters in North Carolina. During the visit, which included meetings with other high-ranking Vietnamese officials and local church leaders, Khang pledged that the Vietnamese government is committed to promoting and protecting religious freedom at all administrative levels.
Khang stated that the government has established open channels for religious minorities to voice concerns and recommendations regarding their freedoms. He emphasized that the state aims to ensure these rights are upheld by law and effectively implemented at the grassroots level. Graham, who has overseen humanitarian efforts in Vietnam through Samaritan’s Purse for over 30 years, acknowledged the progress made in the country since the end of the Vietnam War. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing dialogue regarding the importance of religious liberty, noting that while relations with churches were historically difficult, the climate for Christians has improved in recent years.
