Former Lifeway Director Indicted on Theft and Forgery Charges
Giancarlo Montemayor Trejo, a former director of Global Ministry at Lifeway Christian Resources, has been arrested and indicted on multiple felony charges, including theft, forgery, and computer offenses. A Williamson County grand jury issued the indictment following an investigation that began in October 2025. Authorities allege that Trejo funneled fraudulent contacts to collect referral fees, solicited personal payments for complimentary Bibles, and misused company credit cards for personal travel expenses.
Lifeway officials stated they discovered the violations of financial and ethical policies in May 2025 through an internal investigation, which led to Trejo’s termination. The organization has since cooperated with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office. James Carroll, chairman of Lifeway’s board of trustees, expressed disappointment regarding the misappropriation of ministry funds but noted that the organization has implemented improved internal controls to prevent future misconduct. Trejo, who joined Lifeway in 2018, is currently held in the Williamson County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
