Christian Family Rebuilds Home After Targeted Attack in Chhattisgarh

A Christian family in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh has received assistance to rebuild their home following a violent attack by a mob. In February 2026, approximately 200 individuals surrounded the residence of a man identified as Faizal, demanding he renounce his faith and return to Hinduism. When he refused, the group destroyed the property and displaced the family, who were forced to live outdoors for a period. The incident followed two years of persistent harassment directed at the family due to their Christian beliefs.

International Christian Concern (ICC) intervened to provide the materials necessary for the family to reconstruct their home. The organization noted that this incident is part of a broader trend in Chhattisgarh, where anti-conversion laws and right-wing groups have led to the displacement of numerous Christian families. According to ICC, these families are frequently pressured to participate in 'Ghar Wapsi' ceremonies.
