Evangelical Press Association votes to rename organization Christian Communicators Network

Members of the Evangelical Press Association (EPA) have voted to rename the organization the Christian Communicators Network. The resolution passed with 140 votes in favor and 102 against, with two abstentions. The vote saw a 37% participation rate, with 244 of the 664 eligible members casting ballots before the October 7 deadline.

The decision to replace the word "Evangelical" with "Christian" sparked significant debate among the membership, which consists of publishers, editors, writers, and journalists. EPA board president Dwight Widaman stated that the organization’s core convictions, Statement of Faith, and Code of Ethics will remain unchanged. He emphasized that the rebranding is intended to help the group reach younger professionals while maintaining its journalistic legacy.

Following the vote, the board is authorized to update the association's legal documents, branding, and digital platforms. While the transition process has begun, the organization has not yet announced a specific timeline for the full implementation of the new name.
