Trump Administration Launches Global Economic Campaign Against Iran

The Trump administration has initiated a new sanctions campaign titled "Operation Economic Outcast," aimed at isolating Iran from the international financial system. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described the effort as an "economic D-Day," intended to sever revenue streams supporting the Iranian regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The strategy focuses on targeting foreign banks, shipping networks, and intermediaries that facilitate Iranian trade, with the administration warning that entities assisting in money laundering will be removed from the U.S. dollar system.

The initial phase of the operation involves sanctions against more than 60 individuals, entities, and vessels accused of involvement in cyber operations, missile technology procurement, and oil revenue generation. The Treasury Department has also expanded sanctions authorities across the aviation, technology, gold, digital asset, and shipping sectors. While the U.S. government works to map and dismantle these networks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly expressed support for the economic siege. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Iranian authorities have responded to the pressure by placing a bounty on Barron Trump.
