The Republican National Committee held its first-ever midterm convention in Dallas, Texas, on September 9-10, 2026. The event, which drew an estimated 20,000 attendees, featured speeches from President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and various congressional leaders. President Trump used his keynote address to promise a $5,000 "Trump dividend" to every adult American citizen, contingent upon Republicans maintaining control of both the House and Senate in the upcoming November elections.

Speakers at the convention, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Pastor Robert Jeffress, framed the midterm elections as a critical battle for the nation's future. Religious themes were prominent, with Pastor Lorenzo Sewell leading a prayer and sermon on spiritual warfare, while other speakers criticized the Democratic Party's platform. Specifically, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Representative Brandon Gill targeted Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, labeling his views on faith and gender as radical.

In response, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and other Democratic representatives organized a counter-event in Dallas to challenge the Republican platform. Meanwhile, some prominent Republicans, including Senator John Cornyn, chose not to attend the convention, though Cornyn affirmed his support for the party ticket.
