Dallas Theological Seminary Partners with Indian Seminary for Counseling Degree

Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) and the Evangelical Theological Seminary (ETS) in India have announced a new academic partnership to launch a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling. The program, which is scheduled to enroll its first cohort of 11 students in the fall of 2026, aims to address the growing demand for trained counselors within the Indian church.

Under the agreement, students will complete biblical and theological coursework at the ETS campus in Bagalur, while taking specialized counseling modules from the DTS curriculum. Instruction will be provided through a combination of online courses and in-person sessions led by visiting DTS faculty. The partnership is designed to eventually transition full administrative and operational control of the program to ETS.

ETS president Stephen George noted that the initiative seeks to equip a new generation of biblically rooted counselors to serve the expanding Christian community in India. Founded in 1978 by DTS alumnus Isaac John, ETS is accredited by the Asia Theological Association and focuses on training leaders for ministry across Asia.
