Brian Tome transitions from senior pastor role at Crossroads Church
Brian Tome, the founder of Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, has announced he is stepping down from his role as senior pastor. After leading the multicampus congregation for three decades, Tome will transition into a new position as founding senior pastor. Kyle Ranson, previously the lead pastor, will assume the senior pastor title, along with the associated leadership responsibilities and a seat on the church board.
Tome stated that he intends to focus on camp ministries, his podcast, and speaking engagements under a five-year, renewable contract. He emphasized that he is not leaving the church, but rather moving away from the day-to-day administrative duties that he described as no longer fueling his mission. The church currently serves approximately 35,000 members across nine locations.
This leadership change follows a period of controversy for the church. In March 2026, Tome was suspended after allegations surfaced regarding a 2015 incident in which he reportedly used a riding crop on a male visitor in his office. Church leadership stated they were not made aware of the incident until 2024. Tome returned to teaching duties last month before announcing his transition.
