Pro-life group calls for increased scrutiny of hormonal contraception
The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has released a new installment of its 'Viewpoint' series, titled 'The Wellness Blindspot,' which advocates for greater public examination of hormonal contraception. Presenter Delphine Chui argues that while the modern wellness movement encourages women to be cautious about chemicals in food, clothing, and skincare, the potential health impacts of synthetic hormones are often overlooked.
Chui and SPUC communications manager Peter Kearney suggest that the same principles of consumer awareness and personal responsibility applied to environmental toxins should extend to medical products. The organization contends that many women take hormonal contraceptives for extended periods without sufficient information regarding potential side effects, particularly concerning mental health. By highlighting this perceived inconsistency, the group aims to encourage women to seek more comprehensive data to make informed decisions about their physical and mental well-being.
