Christian Leader Urges Churches to Address Marriage and Fertility Declines

J.P. De Gance, founder of the ministry Communio, is calling on churches to address the United States' declining marriage and fertility rates by fostering a Christian worldview centered on family. De Gance, co-author of the book *Endgame: The Church's Strategic Move to Save Faith and Family in America*, argues that the current crisis is rooted in a loss of purpose rather than purely economic factors. He suggests that congregations must prioritize teaching that views marriage and family as the primary sources of human meaning.

Data from the National Center for Health Statistics indicates that the U.S. fertility rate reached a record low of 1.57 children per woman in 2025. De Gance warns that this trend could lead to significant social challenges, including the rise of a population of "kinless adults" and increased strain on national infrastructure. Through the "Family and Civilization" campaign, his organization is providing resources to help church leaders encourage healthy relationships within their communities. De Gance emphasizes that while economic concerns are often cited, the solution lies in recapturing a vision of sacrificial love and human purpose.
