Protestant Abuse Survivors Launch Searchable Database of Accused Church Leaders

A group of Protestant abuse survivors has launched ProtestantAccountability.org, a new online database documenting church leaders and staff accused of sexual abuse or misconduct. Spearheaded by survivor Chellee Taylor and supported by attorney Boz Tchividjian, the project aims to provide a centralized resource for screening potential hires across various denominations. The site was developed with guidance from experts previously involved in documenting abuse within the Catholic Church.

The database currently lists more than 2,700 individuals, including pastors, lay staff, teachers, and counselors. The entries feature public information such as indictments, lawsuits, and news reports, covering incidents ranging from the 1980s to the present. Notable figures listed include Robert Morris, Johnny Hunt, and Ravi Zacharias. The platform includes those who have been convicted, defrocked, or publicly accused, as well as individuals alleged to have covered up or enabled abuse.

Organizers emphasize that the site does not conduct independent investigations but instead aggregates existing public records. The platform includes a disclaimer offering to remove any information found to be incorrect. Taylor stated that the initiative is intended to protect churchgoers and improve institutional safety rather than dismantle the church.
