Chuck Swindoll Reflects on Life and Ministry in New Autobiography
Renowned pastor and author Chuck Swindoll has released a new autobiography titled Awakened by Grace, coinciding with his 92nd birthday. Despite his long-standing reluctance to write about himself, Swindoll shares reflections on his life, ministry, and the influence of divine grace across 30 chapters. He describes the book as a personal account of the lessons learned through mentoring, navigating ministerial transitions, and his own experiences with making mistakes.
Swindoll recounts his journey from serving in the United States Marine Corps to his time at Dallas Theological Seminary. He notes that he entered the seminary on probationary status because he had not previously completed a college degree. During his studies, he worked as a groundskeeper to support his family. He eventually graduated in 1963 and was later invited to serve as the fourth president of the institution in 1994. Throughout the narrative, Swindoll emphasizes the importance of allowing individuals to seek God’s guidance for their own major life decisions rather than offering unsolicited advice, a lesson he says he learned through his decades of pastoral experience.
