Christian Families Face Forced Evictions and Property Destruction in Chhattisgarh

Christian families in India's Chhattisgarh state are facing forced evictions and the destruction of their homes due to their religious convictions. Reports indicate that families in the Kanker and Sukma districts have been targeted by local groups demanding they renounce their faith and return to traditional rituals. In Chindpal village, a family was evicted and their belongings removed, while in Deorpalli village, the roofs were stripped from the homes of a pastor and two other Christian families.

Advocacy groups describe these incidents as part of a broader pattern of intimidation and community-led sanctions against marginalized Christians in the region. Critics argue that local authorities have failed to intervene effectively, leaving affected families without adequate protection or legal recourse. These events highlight ongoing tensions regarding religious freedom in the tribal belt, where residents report that non-compliance with local mandates often results in physical displacement and the loss of property.
