Christians in Khartoum Face Ongoing Danger Amid Escalating Conflict

On October 19, drone strikes launched by the Rapid Support Forces targeted areas of Khartoum controlled by the Sudanese Armed Forces, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. This latest aerial attack serves as a stark reminder of the persistent violence that has plagued Sudan’s capital since the civil war began in April 2023. The ongoing conflict has left the city’s infrastructure in ruins, with many church buildings looted, occupied by military forces, or destroyed.

For the remaining Christian minority, the war has created a precarious environment characterized by constant threats from both indiscriminate shelling and targeted discrimination. Many believers have been forced to scatter, while those who remain often gather in secret or within damaged facilities. Despite these hardships, local church leaders and congregants continue to express reliance on their faith. Citing passages such as Psalm 23 and Psalm 46, anonymous sources within the community emphasized that their spiritual commitment remains steadfast even as they navigate the daily dangers of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
