Christian mother hospitalized following attack in Somalia

A Christian mother of eight, Sophia Ibrahim, was hospitalized with severe injuries after being attacked in the Afmadow District of Somalia on August 15. According to local reports, the assault occurred while Ibrahim and other women were gathered for a Bible study. A group of men, including one identified as Ahmed Hussein, reportedly confronted the group, claiming that Christianity was prohibited in the village, and proceeded to beat the women with sticks.

Following the initial confrontation, the assailants reportedly followed Ibrahim to her home, where they attacked her with blunt objects and pangas, a type of long sword. Ibrahim sustained a deep head wound and lost consciousness for several hours before neighbors transported her to a medical facility. Sources indicate the attack was allegedly orchestrated by a former member of an underground Christian fellowship who had returned to Islam. Despite the violence, Ibrahim stated that her commitment to her faith remains firm and that she intends to continue sharing her beliefs.
