UK Christian charities affected by cyber-security breach at database provider

A cyber-security incident involving the London-based cloud platform Beacon has impacted several Christian organizations in the United Kingdom. The breach, which occurred on July 29, involved unauthorized access to systems containing data processed on behalf of the platform's charity and non-profit clients. Beacon representatives stated that they have engaged external experts to investigate the incident and are currently working to support affected customers.

Among the organizations impacted is the Christian charity Embrace the Middle East, which utilizes Beacon to manage supporter information. In a statement released on August 5, the charity confirmed it is working closely with the provider to determine if any sensitive data was compromised. While the investigation remains ongoing, Embrace the Middle East noted that there is currently insufficient evidence to confirm that supporter or partner information has been affected. Beacon reported that the incident has not caused any service interruptions for its users.
