Baylor University apologetics event postponed following security cost dispute
A campus event featuring Christian apologists Frank Turek and Corey Miller, originally scheduled for October 5 at Baylor University, has been postponed. The event, organized by the university’s chapter of the apologetics group Ratio Christi, was intended to address questions regarding the truth and value of the Christian faith.
Frank Turek, founder of CrossExamined, stated on his podcast that the event faced significant obstacles, including a ban on livestreaming and the university’s classification of the gathering as an “expressive activity,” which limited marketing and attendance. Turek alleged that the university administration actively sought to prevent the event from occurring.
In response, a Baylor spokesperson attributed the postponement to the student organization’s failure to submit required documentation in a timely manner, which resulted in a late security cost estimate. The university maintains that security fees are the responsibility of the hosting organization and noted that the group chose to postpone rather than explore alternative, less expensive venues. Baylor officials stated they remain open to supporting future events if proper procedures are followed.
