Catholic Church in Nigeria Holds Funeral for Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubeze

Thousands of mourners gathered at Holy Cross Cathedral in Benin-City, Nigeria, on August 13 for the funeral Mass of Archbishop Augustine Obiora Akubeze. The service, which was broadcast nationally, honored the life and ministry of the late archbishop, who served in Uromi and Benin-City and held leadership roles within the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria.

Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of Lagos delivered the homily, reflecting on the intersection of grief and Christian hope.
