Brazilian Marine Corps recruits participate in joint military baptism ceremony
Thirty-five recruits from the Brazilian Marine Corps were baptized by immersion on Saturday, October 17, at the Brasília Air Base. The ceremony was conducted by three military chaplains representing different branches of the Brazilian Armed Forces: Pastor Claudio Britto of the Air Force, Pastor Manassés of the Army, and Pastor Sylmar of the Navy. During the event, the recruits publicly professed their Christian faith, followed by a time of worship.
The participants are currently undergoing a 17-week residential training program to join the Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais, which prepares personnel for amphibious operations, peacekeeping, and humanitarian missions. The baptism highlights the ongoing work of the Brazilian military's Religious Assistance Service, which provides pastoral counseling and religious services across 26 garrisons nationwide. According to the Air Force, these efforts are part of a broader mandate to offer spiritual support to military personnel and their families.
