Animated Biblical Film David Expands to UK and Ireland Cinemas
The animated feature film David is scheduled for release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on August 21. Produced by Angel Studios, the movie chronicles the life of the biblical figure from his early days as a shepherd to his reign as king of Israel, including his encounter with Goliath. The film has already achieved significant international success, grossing nearly $88 million globally and setting an opening-weekend record of $22 million for the studio.
The production features voice performances from Christian artists Phil Wickham and Lauren Daigle, alongside Asim Chaudhry and Brandon Engman. The film incorporates original music and focuses on themes such as faith, resilience, and humility.
To support the release, the organization KOVA has developed free resources for local congregations, including discussion guides, children’s activities, and promotional materials. These tools are designed to help churches facilitate community engagement and follow-up conversations regarding the biblical narrative. This release continues a trend of faith-based productions from Angel Studios, the company behind projects like The Chosen and Sound of Freedom, reaching mainstream cinema audiences.
