George Barna Examines Biblical Worldview in Upcoming Book

In his forthcoming book, How to Think Like Jesus: 7 Cornerstones to Build a Biblical Worldview, researcher George Barna explores why many individuals who identify as Christians often adopt the values and behaviors of the surrounding culture. Drawing on data from over one million American surveys and interviews, Barna argues that this disconnect stems from a lack of a coherent biblical foundation rather than a lack of personal sincerity.

Barna identifies seven essential beliefs that he characterizes as non-negotiable building blocks for a biblical worldview. These cornerstones address fundamental topics, including the nature of God, the authority of Scripture, the reality of human sin, the definition of truth, and God’s perspective on meaning, purpose, and success. The author contends that an individual's life outcomes are directly influenced by the strength of their worldview.

The book distinguishes between what Barna terms "genuine disciples" and "cultural Christians," the latter being those whose decision-making is shaped more by secular influences than biblical conviction. Scheduled for release on September 15, 2026, the work also integrates findings from the ACU Worldview Assessment, a tool designed to help readers measure how closely their personal beliefs align with these seven core principles.
