Brazilian Remake of Flywheel to Receive U.S. Theatrical Release

Filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick are set to release "Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul," a Brazilian reimagining of their 2003 debut film, in U.S. theaters on October 16. Originally produced in Portuguese and set in Rio de Janeiro, the new version will be dubbed in English for its domestic debut. The project serves as a modern update to the original story, which followed a dishonest used-car salesman who experiences a life-changing conversion after surrendering his affairs to God.

The collaboration emerged following the success of the Kendricks' 2024 film, "The Forge," which reached the top of the box office in Brazil. After traveling to the country to train local filmmakers, the brothers decided to revisit their first project to provide a higher production value while mentoring a new generation of Christian artists. Alex Kendrick noted that while the original film was created with limited resources for their local church in Georgia, this new iteration allows them to invest in international talent who share their commitment to equipping the Church through storytelling.
