Artist and Former Wycliffe USA President Hyatt Moore Shares Faith Journey

Hyatt Moore, a renowned artist and former president of Wycliffe USA, recently reflected on his unconventional path from a rebellious youth to a life of global ministry. Growing up in a traditional Christian home, Moore recalls feeling that God and his mother were both obstacles to the experiences he desired. During his early adulthood, he pursued a career in technical illustration, eventually working on the Shelby Daytona Coupe, yet he describes feeling a profound sense of internal emptiness despite his professional success.

Moore recounts that his perspective began to shift through his relationship with Anne Whittlesey, whom he eventually married. He describes his earlier life as devoid of spiritual conversation, noting that he did not know anyone who personally knew God. In his memoir, The Rear View Mirror, Moore details how he moved past his youthful rebellion to embrace a higher calling. Today, he uses his artistic talents to create impressionistic paintings and murals that celebrate the diversity of cultures, viewing his work as a reflection of God’s people worldwide.
