Anglican Bishop Highlights Humanitarian Crisis in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

Bishop Isesomo of the Anglican Diocese of North Kivu has reported that residents in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo are facing a severe humanitarian crisis driven by ongoing violence and a recent Ebola outbreak. The bishop noted that the region is currently impacted by the activities of the ADF terrorist group and the M23 movement, which have forced many families to abandon their homes and livelihoods to seek refuge in cities under difficult conditions.

In addition to the displacement and insecurity, the bishop highlighted the threat posed by the spread of Ebola. He explained that while the church is actively encouraging communities to follow hygiene protocols, many families lack the necessary resources for effective prevention. Amid these challenges, the church continues to provide spiritual support, urging the displaced to remain steadfast in their faith. Drawing on Romans 8:35-39, the bishop encourages believers to maintain hope and trust in God despite the pervasive fear and uncertainty affecting the region.
