9/11 Survivor Shares Journey from Tragedy to Anti-Trafficking Advocacy

An immigrant from India who survived the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City is reflecting on how the tragedy redirected his life toward a mission of service. Having arrived in the United States earlier that year, he recalls feeling a sense of spiritual emptiness despite his professional success. On the morning of the attacks, he had sent an email to a friend expressing a desire for a life of greater significance and asking for prayer to find his divine purpose.

As the North Tower was struck, he navigated the stairwell while fearing for his pregnant wife, who worked in the South Tower. Amidst the chaos of the building's collapse and the surrounding destruction, he describes experiencing a profound sense of peace and the assurance of his salvation. He recounts leading those around him in prayer as they fled the debris. Having survived the ordeal, he now views his life as a gift and has dedicated his efforts to the fight against human trafficking, believing this work fulfills the call to purpose he sought on that day.
