Germany’s Federation of Free Evangelical Churches Reports Membership and Attendance Growth
The Federation of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany (FeG) has reported a significant rebound in congregational life following the decline experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the denomination's latest statistics, membership has returned to growth, with 40,933 members across 504 congregations recorded by the end of 2025. Church attendance has also recovered, rising from a low of 62% in 2021 to 92% by the end of 2025.
Data indicates a notable increase in spiritual engagement, with 2,700 conversions documented over the most recent two-year period. Baptismal activity has seen a particularly sharp rise, with the number of individuals baptized increasing by approximately 76% over four years, growing from 1,491 to 2,624. Additionally, the denomination noted a consistent rise in the number of "friends of the church" who participate in community life without formal membership.
FeG leadership expressed gratitude for these trends, with managing director Guido Sadler describing the figures as an encouragement. President Henrik Otto noted that while the recovery is positive, the denomination intends to use this momentum to further its outreach and discipleship efforts.
